01. What is national disease traceability?

In 2004 USDA launched the National Animal Identification System (NAIS). In 2010 USDA changed this direction by moving forward with a state based implementation to improve disease traceability.

Few details are available at this time as to how USDA will achieve this goal, however States will be the ones in charge of implementation which includes collection and storage of pertinent data.
