05. What about NAIS?
The national animal identification system (NAIS) was a national program intended to identify all food animals and livestock, as well as record their movement over the course of their lifespan. In 2010 The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that the NAIS program is discontinued, however it will now solely focus on enhancing disease traceability to further protect U.S. animal health.
